Subject: Among the Best
Captain Adams' narrative of his service in the 19th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment is among the best written works about civil war service. It is factual and interesting, compelling and poignant. The book encourages the reader to consult the best tactical battle references to seek the context in which the men of the 19th fought and died. Their service is a tribute to the American spirit, well reflected in this excellent book.
